Dear parents,

Welcome to a fantastic third grade year! I am going to be your child’s teacher. I have planned an exciting and fun-filled year and will need your help! It is important that we work together, because we can help your child flourish in the classroom. This is an important school year for your child, because they will learn how to be more independent and confident learners. They will also learn the foundational skills every child needs to have to become strong leaders in the future.
There are several things you can do at home to reinforce what your child will be doing at school each day. It is important that you try and read with your child each night for at least 15 minutes. This will help strengthen their reading skills. It is also important that whenever possible you practice math facts, which include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division throughout the year.

Homework is very important. Homework is a reinforcement of the skills that we are learning during the day. Homework will always reflect what has been taught in the classroom and will never include material that is new to your child. It is important that your child completes their homework each night. Each day the children will write down their homework assignments in their planner. I am requiring that each night you sign their planner so that we can assure that all of their homework is completed. Every Friday your child will have a spelling test, reading comprehension test, and math box quiz. All other tests will be announced at least two days prior, to allow for ample study time. It is important that you study with them whenever possible to help maximize academic success.
Our goal is to make your child’s third grade experience is as educational and memorable as possible. You can reach me by phone at (516) 867-6202 or e-mail (nbermudez@rcacs.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

Ms. Bermudez & Ms Gina
